We’re Connie and Mike Phillion, and we are Doon Mills Guardian Pharmacy. In 2008 we opened a community pharmacy in the Doon area of Kitchener with the vision of supporting and building a healthy community. This is our story.
As a young woman in school, I was certain my career would be in healthcare. When I discovered pharmacy, I knew this would be my life’s path. Being a pharmacist allows me to actively participate in the health and wellness of my patients. It's not just about dispensing medicine, being a pharmacist is so much more.
In 2004, Mike and I set down roots in the Doon area of Kitchener. This community’s exceptional green space, parks and walking trails match perfectly with our busy family. We love to go on bike rides and walks on the trails, and to visit the many parks with our two kids Josh and Ashley.
Early in my career I worked for different pharmacy chains, but knew I could do more. I could invest more time in patient counseling, more time in tailoring my knowledge and skills to meet the individual needs of my patients. I could do all of this, if I could do it my way. This was when the idea of building our pharmacy began. With Mike’s support we developed a vision of what a pharmacy should be; a wellness hub where we understand and address our patients’ unique needs.
In 2008, our vision came to life when we opened Doon Mills Guardian Pharmacy. Our mission is to improve the health and wellness of our patients and our community. We take pride in spending the extra time to really know our customers, and they also get to really know us. This is what a community pharmacy should be.
Nothing can compare to the pleasure and pride we feel every day serving this community. We love the smiling kids running in to colour at our kid’s area. We love providing care to help our sick patients feel better. We love helping our community live their best, healthiest life.
